Gaelic Rising is the second digital community site created and launched for ireland’s leading telecoms operator, eircom.
Following the success of their community site to support their sponsorship of the national football team – Soccer Republic - eircom spotted an opportunity to embrace another thriving and passionate community around Gaelic sports.
Gaelic Rising was built on the same template as Soccer Republic, underpinned by the Huzu social media platform. It has the added value of exclusive content – behind-the-scenes peeks for fans and plenty of opportunity to get involved; commenting, posting blogs, rating videos, entering competitions, playing viral games. It’s easy to chat, make friends, build groups, upload and share content and be entertained by fresh and engaging content.
People crave the ability to share their passion in a site dedicated to supporting it rather than getting lost in a larger, more generic network.
Niche communities, can lose their identity in a social network like MySpace or Facebook, which don’t provide the authoritative content the communities need and don’t foster a strong sense of identity.
Gaelic Republic can now grow freely without the restrictions placed on it by the direction and priorities of the larger networks.
Steve Richards, MD at Yomego, says:
"A community site and social network for Gaelic sports fans, positions eircom as the non-intrusive facilitators, helping a community, previously without a digital home, thrive."
