As lead sponsors of the Irish national soccer team, eircom – the national telecoms provider - wanted to reinforce their association with the huge fanbase.

The challenge was to position eircom as the 'facilitator' of a great community, and present a raft of exclusive benefits for eircom customers.
The hook was eircom’s exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the team’s players, management and backroom staff. (Two seats on the Irish team to the away game in Italy, anyone?) Soccer Republic was integrated with all of the major platforms and received 3m page views in the first six months. 70% of those surveyed said the site was a strong enough reason to keep them with eircom.
The activity also gave eircom the confidence to put social features at the heart of all of its digital presences. Significant saving were made by creating the eircom Connect community to manage customer queries. The new eircom SportHub site and its official facebook presence launched recently, designed and built by Yomego and encompassing all the learnings of previous activities.Back to case studies
