Horrible Histories World

The Horrible Histories brand has become a media phenomenon in recent times. With millions of books sold, the Horrible Histories TV show debuted on the CBBC channel to tumultuous critical acclaim, scooping a hatful of major awards including Baftas and the prestigious "Best Sketch Show" at the national Comedy Awards.

Over the last 18 months, Yomego has been adapting the brand’s appeal for a social game, due to launch in beta in July 2011. We worked closely with the client to define and sell to wider stakeholders, devise the gameplay, design and develop the features, recruit commercial partners and help to prepare for the marketing launch.

The game is built on a new social gaming engine build by Yomego’s sister company, HuzuTech, making it possible to bring a brand to life in a bespoke social game for a fraction of the cost previously.

When adapted for facebook, the game will become truly social and accessible for a global audience. The brand extension into social gaming provides a huge opportunity for the Horrible Histories audience to dress as a gladiator, tour ancient Egypt, play battleships with Blackbeard, enjoy quizzes and quests and make new friends in a safe and educational online environment. There’s even a medieval pig-flinging catapult. Enough said.
